Ever bought a game just because a friend said it was “weirdly good when you’re drunk”? Drunkn Bar Fight 2 on Meta Quest is a physics-based sandbox brawler that feels less like a game and more like a fever dream. Between your “monkey-thin” hands, heads clipping through walls, and “seductive” NPCs that turn out to be balding middle-aged men, this title is a chaotic, buggy mess. While the freedom to slap anyone in an Irish pub sounds fun on paper, the clunky controls and hollow gameplay make it a disaster in practice. Here is my honest, sober breakdown of why this game is better left in the trash—and why you should keep your refund window open.
Game Introduction
During an April sale, a friend of mine picked Drunkn Bar Fight 2 out of all the fighting games available. He said the other games didn’t feel bad to control, but the art style was too cute, and punching people just didn’t feel satisfying enough.
This one was different. The graphics were rough, the animations were clunky, but the atmosphere felt properly violent. He said it right away. “This is it. Adding it to the cart.”
Two mornings later, he sent me a strange message. “I don’t recommend this game… but when you’re drunk, it feels weirdly good.”
That got under my skin. It felt like I’d miss out if I didn’t try it. All right, fine, let’s do this.
The moment I jumped into VR, I noticed how tiny the hands looked. Thinner than a monkey’s. Am I really supposed to punch with these? There was a lighter on the table. What’s going on here? Am I so drunk I can’t feel anything? I lit my hand on fire and didn’t feel a thing.
Liquor bottles were scattered all over the room. You could pick them up and drink, or just throw them. But for some reason, you couldn’t use the cactus sitting there as a weapon. What is that about?
Even when I burned my hand with the lighter, I still felt nothing. This isn’t just being drunk. This feels like I’m about to black out.

You can grab a liquor bottle, but you can’t pick up the cactus.
And honestly, hitting someone with a cactus sounds like it would be way more fun.

The bat in the room is hard to grip, and even a slight touch makes it spin across the floor like a battle top. It’s not just spinning for show either. It even knocks down the guys in the room. What kind of weird weapon is this?
There’s also an old-school Atari 2600 sitting there with a pinball cartridge next to it, but seriously, who’s going to play that inside VR?
None of it makes any sense. Why is the bat spinning across the floor nonstop? It’s basically a combat spinning stick.

There’s even an Atari 2600 sitting there, and you can play this super old-school pinball game on it.
But honestly, is that actually fun?

When you step outside, a lineup of muscular guys stands by the gate, grinning as they stare at you. You look down at your own monkey-like hands… this is a fighting game, right? Well then, might as well start practicing.
Controls are based on hand movement. You throw punches, slap, and if you hold the trigger, you can grab objects or people.
The feeling of hitting someone is a bit strange. Bodies twist in unnatural ways, joints bend the wrong direction, and sometimes a girl will turn her head 180 degrees and stare back at you with a smile. That smile sends a chill down your spine, so you grab a hammer and bring it down on her.
Honestly, if this game were renamed something like “Creepy Bar Simulator” it would probably sell.
Weapons are scattered everywhere in the streets and inside the bar. Bats, toy hammers, suction-cup bows, rugby balls, basketballs. There’s plenty of variety.
They all look flashy, but every single one of them feels terrible to use. Every hit feels like it just swings through empty air.
There’s no story, no missions. You don’t really know what you’re doing, and the experience feels oddly hollow.
Even when you finally spot a girl striking a seductive pose, once the helmet comes off, it turns out to be a balding middle-aged guy. Seriously?
And who would ever think to use a toy hammer in a fight? The attack power is basically zero.

That seductive fox posing over there? Take off the helmet, and it’s just a balding middle-aged guy.

This game is full of bugs. You get stuck when opening doors, stuck just by turning around, stuck even when holding a hammer. Your head clips straight through walls, and once you pass through, you can see the starry sky beyond the buildings.
Is this supposed to recreate the experience of getting drunk, stumbling into things, and seeing hallucinations?
Then I remembered what my friend said. “Drunkn Bar Fight 2 feels weirdly good when you’re drunk.”
Was I playing it the wrong way? I looked at the shelves packed with liquor and thought, fine, let’s take a real drink.
After one shot, my whole body felt refreshed. My head felt light, my body loose. When I put the headset back on, there was this wobbly, swaying sensation that actually felt kind of nice.
The friend in the room had a big drunken grin on his face. I spotted a frying pan in the kitchen, grabbed it, and landed two hits right away. At the bar, there was a short guy. One slap, then another. It actually felt satisfying. After that, I picked him up and held him high in the air.
Outside, I saw a muscular guy smirking on the street. I grabbed a hammer and swung full force. After knocking him flying, I grabbed his arm and spun him around in an unstoppable spinning attack.
But even that didn’t change anything. No matter what, this game is still terrible.
If I had to sum it up, it’s this. You’d have to get so drunk you can’t even keep your eyes open just to forget that you bought this game. It’s the kind of bad that leaves a scar. Am I having a nightmare?
Drinking too much is bad for you. And remember, if you’re within two hours of playtime, you still have a chance to refund a game you don’t like, so use that time wisely.
GuGu, if you keep messing around like this, I’m leaving you here.
