Remember when the pigs actually stole the eggs? In Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs on Meta Quest, there is no excuse—the birds are just ruthlessly bullying pigs with terrible construction skills. Taking the legendary mobile physics puzzle and dropping it into full 360-degree Mixed Reality, you can literally walk around the wobbly towers in your own living room to find the perfect slingshot angle. Featuring over 100 main stages, zero motion sickness, and a massive catalog of user-created levels, it is a highly satisfying nostalgia trip. Here is my honest review of the satisfying destruction, the brutal late-game difficulty spike, and why the birds are definitely the villains this time.
Game Introduction
Did the pigs make the birds angry, or are the birds just bullying the pigs…?
Honestly, once you’re a pig, getting your house smashed feels like fate. Cute wins everything, and that’s just how this world works.
Angry Birds is one of those legendary puzzle games that’s been around since the early days of smartphones. Back then, the story was simple: pigs stole the birds’ eggs, the birds got mad, and pig houses paid the price.
But this time? The pigs might actually be innocent. It’s not theft — their construction skills are just terrible, and every house they build is a disaster waiting to happen.
Now that this classic has gone full VR, the pig towers are completely three-dimensional. The birds are even cuter than before, and you can walk around the structures, circle them, and line up shots from any angle. The rules haven’t changed, but the scale, impact, and sense of presence are on a totally different level.

This Meta Quest version of Angry Birds VR is honestly a mix of surprises and a few letdowns. In the old Angry Birds, the animated intro clearly showed why the birds were mad — the pigs stole their eggs, so the birds went on the attack. This time, though, there’s no excuse at all. The birds are just going wild.
See a shaky-looking house? Smash it immediately.
Spot a single pig? No mercy, poke it off the map.
Find pigs gathered around a pot, happily singing? Tear the whole house down and wipe them all out at once.
That’s basically the vibe. It’s full-on “destruction is justice.”
Yeah… this one really feels like a pig-bullying game.
Instead of swiping on a screen like the mobile version, you actually grab a slingshot in your hand, pull the bird back, and fire it off. The pigs are still living in those dangerously stacked tower houses, and just looking at them, you can tell they’re going to collapse easily.
There’s also an AR mode, which is a nice touch. You can place the pig nests right in your living room or on your bed, walk around them, and hunt for weak points from every angle.
And of course, sticking to tradition, there are four types of birds you can use.
🟥 Red Bird (Small Red)
- Skill: Press the button mid-flight to accelerate straight forward.
- Best use: The ultimate wood breaker. High speed and strong penetration, and when your aim is on point, the payoff feels amazing.
🟡 Yellow Bird (Chuck)
- Skill: Explodes either on impact or after a short delay.
- Best use: Perfect for blowing up heavy materials like stone or concrete. If you time it right, you can trigger a chain reaction and bring down an entire tower at once.
⚫ Black Bird (Bomb)
- Skill: Blows up on impact or a few seconds after landing.
- Use: Great for blasting through stone, concrete, and heavy structures. Sometimes it can even trigger a full chain reaction that takes down the whole tower.
🔵 Blue Bird (Blues)
- Skill: Splits into three smaller birds while flying.
- Best use: Ideal for shattering large glass surfaces or hitting multiple small targets at the same time.

There are 104 main stages in total.
They’re split into Holiday stages and Ghost stages, and then further divided into four themed areas, with 13 levels in each one.

Each area has a completely different look and vibe, so the stages don’t feel repetitive.
- Sandy Beach
- Rocky Climb
- Snow Slope
- Party Peak

Starting around the later half of the second area, the difficulty spikes hard. It’s not just about getting three stars — simply clearing a level can take a fair amount of time.
At first, the excitement carries you through and it’s a lot of fun, but after about 20 minutes, you slip into full “grind mode.” You start thinking, “I just need to clear this,” while your motivation slowly sinks.
And if you somehow clear all 104 stages and still want more, you can jump into player-created levels. Just be warned — those crank the difficulty up even further, so brace yourself.

If you’re really stuck, try turning on AR mode. You might spot something you missed before, and hidden weak points can suddenly become obvious.
