100 Day Siege Meta Quest Review: Epic Medieval VR Tower Defense

We’ve all played those mobile games where you defend a castle from endless waves of monsters with the swipe of a finger. 100 Day Siege on Meta Quest takes that classic tower defense formula and puts you physically on the castle walls. Instead of tapping a screen, you are manually adjusting the angles and tension of massive catapults and ballistas to crush hordes of charging skeletons and orcs. While the progression can feel a bit repetitive and the game is still in early access, the sheer scale of the battlefield and the satisfying physics make it a fun, low-motion-sickness challenge. Here is my honest review of the upgrade loop, the siege mechanics, and how long you can actually hold the line.

Game Introduction

When you only have a single catapult, how many days do you think you can hold out?

When enemies rush in like endless waves and you only have a single catapult, how many days can you survive? This defense battle is only just getting started.

When you only have a single catapult, how many days do you think you can hold out?

This kind of setup should feel familiar if you’ve played mobile games over the past few years. You’re on the defensive side, fending off waves of monsters with catapults or ballistas, and as time passes, the enemies keep getting stronger.

The core idea here is similar, but this isn’t a phone game. You’re not just swiping a screen with your finger anymore. You’re actually standing on the castle walls and fighting for real. In the Meta Quest tower defense VR game 100 Day Siege, you start by operating a worn-out catapult yourself. You get an aiming guide for the first two shots, but after that, you’re completely on your own.

You have to adjust the angle and power by hand before launching each stone. And if you keep firing into empty ground like I did at first, the skeletons will rush straight up to the castle gate and start screaming their heads off.

When firing stone shots, you need to aim carefully and think one step ahead. Miss your shot, and the skeleton horde will charge straight to the castle gate.

On the left side of the screen, you’ll see three levers. As you defeat a certain number of enemies, reward skills become available.

  • Aiming Sight: shows where the stone will land
  • Fireball: doubles your attack power
  • Scatter Shot: fires three massive stones at once

Each skill has a limited number of uses. Keep the levers pulled up to save them, then trigger them at the exact moment when you really need them.

You can only use skills a limited number of times. Stock them in advance with the lever, then unleash everything at the right moment to wipe out the enemy in one burst.

In front of the castle walls, you can place defensive towers, and you can upgrade them as well. Each tower has five upgrade levels. There are three main types of defensive structures you’ll be relying on.

  • Ballista
  • Catapult
  • Heavy Catapult
During combat, you can build defensive towers in front of the castle walls. Upgrading arrow towers and firepower is the key to surviving the later stages.

At the start of the undead assault, you’re mostly dealing with skeleton soldiers and siege towers. As the days go by, skeleton mages and catapults start showing up, and eventually even giant skeletons join the fight. Honestly, the scale of it all is pretty impressive, and you can really feel the adrenaline kicking in while you play.

The first enemies you’ll face are skeleton soldiers paired with siege towers. It may feel simple at first, but if you can’t hold out for several days, the game shifts straight into hell mode.

After each round ends, you earn gems based on your performance. You use these gems to buy upgrades. Early on, upgrades only cost 10 gems, but the price keeps going up as you progress.

  • Increase HP
  • Automatic HP regeneration
  • Higher starting funds
  • Increased attack power
  • Faster attack speed
  • Reduced cooldown time
  • Lower tower construction costs
After each round, you earn gems based on your performance. Use them to increase weapon power or reduce skill cooldowns.

Losing is normal. Just power up a few times and try again.

Gugu stands in the middle of a siege, hands shaking as he tries to load VRPUPU into a catapult. Mengmeng, wearing the Queen’s battle armor, shouts, “That’s the wrong one!” In the background, a massive army of skeletons and goblins is closing in.

Game Rating

The Highlights

  • The controls are simple, and you really get to enjoy that VR-specific sense of immersion. The scale of the siege battles is excellent too.
  • When hundreds of enemies rush in all at once, you genuinely feel like saying, “I’ll crush every last one of you.”

The Drawbacks

  • That said, the gameplay can feel a bit repetitive, and there isn’t much of a story. If you spend a long time defending the towers, boredom might eventually set in.

Setup & Safety

You can play this game without moving from your spot, but since there’s a lever-pulling motion involved, it’s best to leave about one meter of clear space on your left side.

Official Description

Defend your castle in a medieval fantasy world and face off against the strongest invading army. Endless skeletons, archers, siege towers, and cavalry will come charging in, and you’ll be thrown into a massive battle. With a powerful slingshot in your hands, every time you destroy an enemy siege tower, you unlock new ammo types. That lets you take on hundreds of enemies while upgrading your defenses.

Conquer the ever-increasing “days” as the difficulty ramps up. Each wave brings new enemies and new challenges. With an immersive VR experience, every stage is packed with intense combat and strategy RPG elements.

Can you survive a 100-day siege? The first five days are playable in early access, and more content is planned to arrive soon.

If the skeletons in 100 Day Siege feel too skinny and it’s not that satisfying to shoot them, I’d recommend this “shoot the fat pigs” game instead. This one forces you to aim a lot more accurately.
