Ever hit your limit with a real cat waking you up with 4 A.M. nose punches? I Am Cat on Meta Quest lets you experience the other side by becoming the menace yourself. This family-friendly VR sandbox acts as the ultimate feline simulator, letting you knock over books, shred expensive leather sofas, and terrorize Grandma with hilarious physics-based chaos. With incredibly simple controls that are perfect for kids and adults alike, it is a relaxing, low-stakes way to cause some serious property damage. Here is my full breakdown of the crazy cat missions, the mild motion sickness risks, and why this is a must-play casual title.

Game Introduction

Have you ever owned a cat?
I hit my limit in just one week…

It sleeps all day while I’m at work, then the moment I get home, it starts inhaling food. After that, I’m on playtime duty for over an hour every night. By the time things finally calm down and I crawl into bed around 11 p.m., I think I’m safe — and then 4 a.m. hits.

Next thing I know, it jumps straight onto my head and starts tapping my nose to wake me up.

I put up with it landing on my face.
I tolerated the cat punches to my nose.
But then it pulled its claws out…

Come on, seriously. Give me a break.

A cute cat jumps onto the bed as a morning wake-up call, trying to wake its owner with its front paws, while the boy keeps sleeping calmly.

Don’t understand why cats act like that?
Then jump into this Meta Quest VR action game, I Am Cat, and experience it with your own body. You’ll quickly see just how wild cats really are.

The controls are simple. When you open your eyes, the floor sits right around your belly level — that’s the cat’s point of view. Slide both hands forward to walk or run, and slide both hands at the same time to jump.

Here’s the key detail: cats walk with their paws turned inward.
If you slide your fluffy cat paws inward toward your body, you’ll move with that unmistakable cat-style walk. But if you start swinging your arms back and forth like you’re jogging… yeah, that’s a dog walk. Cats don’t move like that.

The in-game TV even teaches you how to become a “proper cat,” step by step.

A retro TV in the living room teaches cats the rules of human society, showing a lesson video of humans and cats interacting while wearing VR.

When you enter the room, a message pops up from her.
“Come see me after you finish your mission,” it says.
If you look at the watch on your left wrist, you can check your current objectives and progress.

A mission and score appear on a wrist band as Archie, the main cat character, starts another destruction challenge.

Missions? For a cat?
Of course there are. Stuff like this:

  • Knock books off the bookshelf
  • Mess around with the TV remote
  • Sprint full speed around the room
  • Go completely nuts playing with a cat teaser

Honestly… my real-life cat does exactly the same useless stuff. Spot on.

Using its front paws, the cat plays a whack-a-mole mini-game, showing that even cats can join simple, kid-friendly activities.

There’s one more important detail.
Most of the time, a cat’s claws are tucked away — but when you pull the trigger, they slide right out.

Scratch a shelf or a sofa, and you’ll leave behind clean, obvious claw marks. And yeah… it feels way more satisfying than it should. After doing it two or three times, you finally get it.

Why your cat ignores the cat tower…
and deliberately chooses to shred that insanely expensive Italian leather sofa instead.

The cat digs its claws deep into a red shelf, leaving clear scratch marks and unleashing pure destruction instinct.

You can also leap at the owner and knock them over.
…Just don’t go too hard, okay? Keep this in mind: if grandma comes swinging with a frying pan and bonks you on the head, even a cat is going to see stars.

A sneaky cat targets an unsuspecting grandmother, preparing to leap from behind for a surprise attack.

Mengmeng—hey! You’re not supposed to scratch that!

Mengmeng wears a cat costume and happily pretends to scratch the sofa, while Gugu holds his head and shouts “My expensive leather sofa!” VRPUPU joins in with cat ears and a VR headset, fully embracing the chaos.

Setup & Safety

I Am Cat is a Meta Quest action game where you have a lot of freedom as a cat, but most actions are done by waving your hands and turning your body in place. You don’t need a large play area.
That said, it’s a good idea to secure a safe space with about a 1-meter radius before you start playing.
